PRESIDIANS SHOWCASE THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF THE THEME ‘TRAVEL’
Theme Based Learning (TBL) is a powerful instructional method that makes concepts easy to comprehend. It uses real life experiences in such a manner, that children easily immerse themselves in learning. Each theme ends with culmination, in which children showcase their learning to their parents, teachers or classmates. Students of grade 2, recently culminated the theme 'Travel'. They demonstrated their understanding of the various concepts covered under this theme; such as essential things for travelling, various purposes of travel, information òn tickets, different modes of transport etc. They shared their experience of various visits and journeys. This theme gave them an opportunity to recall their journey and events that happened while travelling. Students were able to build the understanding that the cost of tickets, facilities offered distance and time taken are the factors that influence the means and modes of travel. The greatness of a culture can be found in its festivals. It is a happy feature that in India we share the pleasures of celebrating festivals of several communities. So our budding Presidians got the opportunity to present information about religious festivals like Diwali, Holi, Rakshabandhan, Eid, Gurunanak Jayanti and National festival like Republic Day, Independence Day etc and thus cemented the spirit of national integration too. They were delighted to make Rangolis and had a lot fun as they enacted skits on different occasions. It was a great learning experience for students.
