Lohri is a popular winter folk festival that is celebrated primarily by Sikhs and Hindus all across India, marks the end of the winter season, and is traditionally believed to welcome the sun to the northern hemisphere. It is believed by many that the festival marks the passing of the winter solstice. The festival is celebrated by lighting bonfires, eating festive food, dancing, and collecting gifts which form an intrinsic part of the celebrations. Young Presidians virtually celebrated Lohri with zeal and ardor. They gave mesmerizing performances and shared the significance of the festival with speeches, stories, and rhymes. They sang the “sundar mundariye'' folk and offered Popcorns, Peanuts, Gajaks, and Rewari sweets to the bonfire in a way of paying gratitude to nature by ending all the negativity and bringing in happiness, prosperity, and renewed energy for the new year.
